NICK
SALAZAR
Board Member/President
Nick Salazar is from Muscatine, Iowa where he was born and raised. His family migrated to Muscatine in the 1960's to work at the Heinz tomato fields. Today, Nick is the supply chain manager at the same company in Muscatine which is now KraftHeinz. Outside of work Nick enjoys spending time with the family and being an advocate of civil rights.

Board Member/Secretary
I am a native of Cuba, however I have lived in Iowa since I was 13 years old. I was an educator for 38 years and I was also an Elementary Counselor for the last 15 years of my career.
After retirement, I was the coordinator of an afterschool program for the City of Muscatine located at Sunset Park Housing.
I am happy to be able to serve on the DSCI Board and help to continue the wonderful programs offered to the immigrant community by the DSCI staff.

CURTIS
Board Member/Treasurer
Ashley graduated from the University of Iowa in 2014 with a Bachelor of Psychology and a Human Relations Minor. She has been working in Social work with her degree since 2014 in the community. Ashley enjoys and dedicates herself to working with the people in our community.

Born raised in Davenport, Iowa Retired after 28 years as Iowa City Water Super Intendant Currently president of West Liberty Lulac Council 310 and West Liberty Community School District Board VP, and works Gently Family Dentist in West Liberty, Muscatine and North Libert. I am committed to community service and proud to be a board member of DSCI.

JOHANNSEN
Board Member
Sue is interested in being a positive influence in our community. Becoming a DSCI board member gives her the opportunity to support the DSCI team as they work to serve the people of Muscatine and the surrounding area. Sue is a retired educator. During her years with Muscatine Schools, she taught middle school students.
DANIEL
LOU
Board Member
Daniel was born and raised in Liberia, West Africa. He moved to the United States in 2011 and has been living in Muscatine ever since. He graduated from Iowa State University with Bachelor’s degree Agribusiness and currently working at Corteva AgroScience.
Outside of work, Daniel volunteers at Calvary Church African Service as Ministry Assistant. He also enjoys watching sports especially Soccer.
